PC-PUMP® v3.6

August 2016

C-FER Technologies is pleased to announce the release of PC-PUMP v3.6. This release is available to all users who are subscribed to the 2016 Maintenance Plan. The new version of PC-PUMP fixes several bugs identified by users and incorporates new features that increase the software’s usability.

Some of the new features in PC-PUMP v3.6 include:

Improved Rod Fatigue Calculations. New rod fatigue calculations in PC-PUMP allow users to adjust corrosion factors, select between Gerber and Goodman methods for calculating the effective rod stress and enter custom S-N curves specific to a particular rod material grade. The new calculations are more conservative than previous calculations for cases with standard rods. It is recommended that PC-PUMP fatigue results from older versions of PC PUMP be re-run in version 3.6 for improved fatigue calculation accuracy. More information on the updated fatigue calculations is available in SPE Paper 171352 (Skoczylas, 2014).

Surface Permanent Magnet Motors (PMMs). PC-PUMP now allows users to select Permanent Magnet Motors (PMMs) as prime movers for surface driven PCP systems. The prime mover selection window layout and functionality was also improved to clarify how users should enter specifications and operating conditions.

Equipment Database and Specifications Update. The PC-PUMP Equipment Database has been extensively updated to reflect recent changes in a number of equipment manufacturer’s product lines. In addition, pump manufacturers can now optionally provide ISO validated pump displacement specifications (determined as per ISO 15136-1 Sections 6.5.1, 6.7 and Annex B).

Minor Bug Fixes. A number of minor PC-PUMP software bugs have been fixed in v3.6. These fixes improve the integrity and usability of PC-PUMP by removing bugs that could potentially cause unexpected behavior in the software.
